Exploring Microsoft Teams Webinar
It’s time to book your upcoming Microsoft Teams event, and when you bring up the meeting type list, there’s that “webinar” option sitting there. What’s that all about? The short answer is registration. If you want to send out a link and allow anyone who is interested register to attend your event, this is the option for you.
Teams Webinar has caveats: you must have less than a thousand attendees and those attendees will NOT have an invite on their calendar until after they complete registration.
The upside is that you can gather all those juicy bits of information during registration. Want to know what topics might be of interest? What city attendees are in? What their favorite color is? All of those questions can be answered by attendees when they register, and you can see that information prior to the event to ensure you’re fully prepared.
Attendees can be limited to members of your organization, or you can expand to an external audience if you’d like. Once started, the event operates like a “Controlled Content” meeting, which those of you with a Teams Premium license may be familiar with. In this mode, attendees will not be able to turn on their audio or webcam, ensuring a clean presentation without interruption.
Presenter webcams are manually controlled to allow you to show only those presenters who are actively participating in each segment of your event. With Teams Premium you can also easily integrate with an external video production team (like Worktank) to stream a hybrid event from a real-world location.
After the event you can get a full report, showing who registered, who attended, and all of the other usual Teams activity data. If you’re interested in learning about how Worktank can help you set up and run a successful Teams Webinar event, whether all virtual or from a conference center, give us a shout!
